As the title suggests, the hands visualise the physical acts of giving and taking. The clasp hands appear to offer support, comfort, and reassurance, as well as suggesting loneliness.  The opposing gestures and the interaction between two bodies, referring to the experience of sustaining contradictory feelings, desires, and ambiguous views of human relationships.

The feather and clay as an object refer to parts of the body that attest to physical and emotional relationships and belonging that structure our identities and relationships.
